In a day and age where hacking and data theft are common, understanding and implementing strong security measures is more important than ever! In the first part of our web security series, we’ll take a closer look at three of the most common vulnerabilities found in applications: SQL injection, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF). We’ll explore how these vulnerabilities work, demonstrate why they can be dangerous, and look at how developers can protect their applications against them.

Let's imagine a company trying to create an account on your Laravel application. How do we verify that this company actually exists, and isn't just making stuff up? Every legitimate European business has a VAT number — an official tax ID. Dennenboom's VAT number, for example, is BE0770405771. So rather than trust a signup blindly, we can ask whether that number belongs to a real company, and the data isn't just made up. And we don't have to build that check ourselves.

Almost every programming language out there has at least some sort of standards and best practices so other developers can more easily read, and understand each others' code. PHP is no different. That's why we have PSRs (PHP Standards Recommendations), so we have some sort of guidelines to follow so our code doesn't become a chaotic mess. In this blogpost we'll cover what exactly they are, why you should know them and we'll also throw in some examples so you can better see the difference it can make in your codebases.

Every request that hits a Laravel app follows the same journey: a route decides where it should go, a controller handles the request and decides what should happen, and a view decides what the end user actually sees. In this blogpost we'll break down that whole journey — from everything you can do with routes, what belongs in a controller, what exactly a view is and how blade components keep your templates from turning into a pile of spaghetti code.

Tired of rebuilding the same dashboard components for every Laravel project? We were too. After copy-pasting forms, tables, and navigation for the fourth time in six months, we built Verdant UI, our component library that cut dashboard setup from days to hours.

Testing isn't overhead—it's your superpower. Feature tests catch the "it worked yesterday" bugs, unit tests guard your logic, and that green CI check means you can deploy with confidence instead of crossed fingers. Here's how we transformed from debugging heroes to prevention masters.

Modern applications typically require diverse data handling: search, documents, time-series, caching. The conventional approach uses specialized databases for each. PostgreSQL eliminates this complexity.
